West Coast’s 2006 premiership Eagles stole the show on Saturday as they reunited to celebrate 20 years since their heart-stopping grand final victory over Sydney.
The heroes of Eagles’ past, unfortunately, couldn’t inspire those of the present as the Eagles went down to Richmond by 11-points on Saturday at Optus Stadium.
However, the beleaguered fans still had something to celebrate as the likes of Chriss Judd, Ben Cousins, Andrew Embley and Michael Braun returned to the field.
The players formed a guard of honour as the current team walked through the banner and were given a lap of honour at half time with fans on the boundary not missing a chance to touch the famous cup or grab a selfie.
Judd said the boys enjoyed the catch-up.
“It’s like going back in a time machine, it’s been a lot of fun,” he said at halftime.
“Braun is in very good nick, and Tyson Stenglein hasn’t aged a day, and Ben Cousins is still looking fighting fit.”
