Big Bash League: Finn Allen’s hint on Perth Scorchers future in special interview with The West Sports Show

Perth Scorchers import Finn Allen wants to return to the club when his contract expires at the end of this season. In an interview with The West Sports Show on the eve of his maiden finals appearance with the club, Allen declared his love for the club and said he is keen to return on a fresh contract next season. The New Zealand international was signed on a two-year deal before last season. Perth can either retain him at the international player draft before next season, or lock him away outside of the draft. To do that, they must offer him a multi-year deal which guarantees he is available for the entire tournament. “I love it here, Perth as a whole, it’s a beautiful part of the world and I am certainly loving time here and I would love to come back,” Allen said. “We’ll see what next year looks like.” Allen blasted a powerful century against Melbourne Renegades last week and then scored a match-winning 69 against Melbourne Stars as the Scorchers clinched the minor premiership on Saturday night. The power-hitter scored just 181 runs and two half-centuries in his first campaign in orange, but has finished this regular season as the league’s second-highest scorer behind only David Warner, with 381 runs at an average of 42.33, despite missing a game. It means Allen enters Tuesday evening’s crunch final as one of the league’s in-form batters. “Momentum and confidence is huge in T20 cricket, preparation is a big part of it, preparing well gives you a lot of confidence,” he said. “But coming off scores is the number one way we get confidence and I guess momentum into a big game is always a big thing. “For me it’s just sticking to my same processes, watching the ball and trying to hit it as hard as I can.”
