Investigations into Josh Giddey’s alleged relationship with a minor have already hit a roadblock with the alleged minor at the centre of the case refusing to come forward.

New Port Police stepped up their investigations on Thursday morning but according to a report in TMZ they’ve hit a snag with both the girl and her family not speaking to law enforcement.

It would be a huge blow to the case as a lack of cooperation from the alleged victim will make it exceedingly difficult to asses if Giddey broke any laws.

The allegations were sparked by an anonymous social media post which said a girl who is seen with the 21-year-old Australian in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time.

The account has since been deactivated but photos and a video of Giddey dancing with a girl at a nightclub continue to be shared online.

It has still not been established how old the girl actually is and when the photos and videos that were shared were taken.

In a news release, police said it was “actively seeking additional information related to these allegations and pursuing all leads and evidence to obtain the facts of the case.”

The NBA also continues its own investigation but has provided no update.

Giddey has still been allowed to play as the investigations continued most recently in the Thunder’s 106-103 defeat in Minneapolis on Wednesday where the guard was relentlessly booed with every possession on the court.

He finished with 10 points six rebounds and one assist with his coach Mark Daigneault saying there are no plans to get Giddey off the court.

“There’s no change in status from a basketball standpoint,” he said.

“I’m not gonna comment on anything as it relates to Josh off the court.”
