AFL: There’s less than a week to go until the trade deadline!
Stay across the latest news and developments from Day 4 of the trade period here.
That’s a wrap
Just the one trade again today with Rowan Marshall and St Kilda’s 2028 third-round pick going to Geelong in exchange for pick No.14.
There were also massive strides taken towards a Nick Blakey move, and with free agency entering its final day, there’ll be plenty of action tomorrow when we’re back from 7am.
Bye for now!
Free agency reminder
The free agency window closes tomorrow, which means time is running out for Zak Butters and Ben King to get their deals done.
There’s likely to be other side deals to get these over the line so expect plenty of action tomorrow.
Mega trade dead?
Some conspiracy lovers would say that it only existed to create some drama while actual deals were being worked on.
Blakey set to request a trade
North Melbourne’s godfather offer looks to be speeding up Blakey’s decision-making, with a call expected in the next 24 hrs.
North currently hold picks 5, 45, 64, 72, and 82 in this year’s draft.
This is what Swans list boss Chris Keane had to say earlier today.
“Clearly there’s been some speculation about Nick and we are working through it all with his management group,” list boss Chris Keane told Trade Radio on Thursday.
“He is contracted for five more years and that hasn’t changed. We were not made aware (of Nick meeting with other clubs).
“We have the final say.”

Suns have another Hawk in there sights
West Coast have reportedly held some interest in Sam Butler but they now have a fight on their hands with Gold Coast now sounding out the Hawks mid/forward.
It comes as fellow Hawk Aiden Schubert requested a trade to the Suns earlier today.
No movement on Lachie Whitfield
Carlton and GWS are locked in a ‘stalemate’ over the All-Australian defender, according to Seven’s Xander McGurie.
The Blues had offered pick No.24 but the Giants were not interested.
Millions put on the table for Blakey
North Melbourne is not holding their cards over a move for Nick Blakey, with AFL.com’s Cal Twomey reporting the Roos have put an eight-year $11 million deal in front of the Swans defender.
That’s absolutely massive, especially considering there is still a Victoria Police investigation outstanding over the Pullman Five.
The question is whether the Swans play hardball given he still has five years left on his deal at Sydney.
Mega deal brewing?
Trade whisperers always love a potential mega deal, and Channel Seven’s Tom Morris suggets one of the largest of all time could be brewing, linked to how Zak Butters gets to the Western Bulldogs.
Bombers circle delisted Docker
Essendon are weighing up whether to hand delisted Fremantle veteran Bailey Banfield an AFL lifeline after they were handed two extra rookie picks as part of an AFL assistance package.
Banfield was delisted by the Dockers last month after 119 games in nine years, having been out of favour for the majority of the season playing just one game in 2026.
