Victoria Police are searching for a man after an elderly woman was allegedly struck with an e-scooter and left unconscious after an AFL match.

The alleged hit took place in East Melbourne near the MCG about 11pm, the police said.

“After the match the 81-year-old woman was walking towards Jolimont Railway Station from the MCG when she was confronted by a man riding an e-scooter,” the police said on Tuesday.

“The man told the woman to move off the footpath and she explained that the footpath is not for vehicles and walked around him.

“As the woman walked away, she was struck from behind by the e-scooter, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

“The e-scooter rider did not stop and was chased by a passer-by and last seen heading west from the Swan Street Bridge.”

Paramedics took the woman to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, where she is still recovering.

On Tuesday, the police released a CCTV image of the man they hope to speak with in connection to the incident.

“The man is perceived to have to have very fair skin with a stocky build, average height, straight blonde or brown hair and grey or blue eyes,” the police said.

“He was wearing thick lensed glasses causing his eyes to appear magnified and a red jacket in shiny, waterproof material.”
