Cyclone all clear given for Pilbara coast

The all clear has been given for coastal communities in the Pilbara as Tropical Cyclone Riley moves further off the coast.

A watch zone extending from Whim Creek to Exmouth has been lifted, but the Department of Fire and Emergency Services is warning residents to remain cautious as the possibility of thunderstorms remains.

Riley is more than 600km north of the Pilbara coast and is expected to continue tracking westwards out to sea.

Karratha recorded 17mm of rain overnight but has not added to that total since 9am. Wind gusts of up to 63kmh have been recorded today.

The heaviest falls today have been recorded in Bidyadanga (37mm) and Cygnet Bay (9mm) in the Kimberley, and Pardoo (23mm) and Mardie (7.8mm) in the Pilbara.
