Have your say on best in business
Voting has opened for the annual Best of Karratha awards and residents are being asked to have their say on which businesses represent the best the town has to offer.
Last Saturday was the official first day of voting for the Spirit 1260 Karratha set of awards, which recognise outstanding contributions and service among Karratha businesses directly from their customers.
Spirit 1260 Karratha manager Judith Chapman said the awards, now in their eighth year, aimed to give residents a chance to acknowledge their favourite local business performers.
“We started the awards so we could look at what is positive and good about the community, and so when someone new comes to the community, they can check out who the best hairdresser is, the best mechanic and things like that,” she said. “It’s a bit of positivity for the whole community.”
Almost 250 businesses have been nominated this year across 17 categories including best coffee, best burger, best customer service and best community volunteers.
Fifteen businesses are also sponsoring the awards and will have tablets set up in their stores where people can lodge their votes.
External online voting is also available.
Competition organiser and Spirit 1260 Karratha account executive Leen Vorsselmans said the awards were a simple way to show appreciation for the achievements and hard work of local businesses.
“I think it helps business in town as well, which is the basis of a community,” she said.
“So I think it’s very important that people get involved with the businesses and support.”
Voting for the 2017 Best of Karratha awards closes on July 31 and winners will be announced on August 15. To vote, visit one of the 15 sponsor businesses with logos on the Best of Karratha posters or go to spiritradio.com.au/karratha.
