It left her crying with happiness — being the sole winner of Saturday Lotto’s $5.1 million jackpot.

“I couldn’t believe that I’d won, I checked the ticket again and again and had a bit of a cry,” the new instant millionaire said.

The winning ticket was actually bought in Esperance while the winner, a middle-aged woman, was on holiday in the town.

She said she was grocery shopping when she decided to buy a Slikpik 25 from Boulevard News Esperance.

“I usually buy a Saturday Lotto ticket wherever I am and I like to support the country towns,” the winner said.

“I was in another town when I heard on the news that the winning ticket was sold from an Esperance newsagency.”

Not surprisingly, her first stop on getting back home to Perth was Lotterywest HQ in Subiaco.

“I haven’t even been home to unpack the car,” she quipped.

She plans to pay off her mortgage and share the prizemoney to help out family and friends.

Rochelle Rantanen, of Boulevard News Esperance, said selling a Division One Lotto ticket had left the staff on a high.

“We’ve been congratulated by stores right across the State, all the way up to Broome!” she said. WA also had a Set for Life streak in November, with nine Division Two winners each taking home $5000 a month for the next 12 months.
