Sydney restaurant chain Bondi Pizza at risk of closing, jobs on the line

A Sydney restaurant chain has gone into administration, putting multiple locations and jobs at risk.

Bondi Pizza, which has locations in Eastgardens, Macquarie and Parramatta, was appointed administrators on February 28.

The chain only recently opened a Randwick location in October 2023, with social media accounts showing a busy opening night.

The eastern Sydney location is the only one to be spared from administration.

It is understood the business is hoping to find a buyer.

There are about 120 staff now waiting to find out the outcome, with the first meeting of creditors scheduled for March 11.

The chain is owned by Casual Dining Concepts and also owns Franco’s $20 Pasta in Eastgardens, Detroit Deep Dish and Sourdough Pizza - all of which have gone into administration.

BRI Ferrier principals Johnathon Keenan and Peter Krejci were appointed as administrators last week.

Speaking to Nine on Sunday, Mr Keenan said the business had run into financial troubles during the Covid-19 pandemic and these “historical difficulties” continue to impact the business.

“We are currently trading the business and offering the business for sale while we explore options to restructure its affairs and provide opportunities for its staff to continue with the group,” he said.

“But we’re working closely with directors and managers looking for a positive solution for the business.”
