A high-profile marriage breakdown that rocked the Australian women’s cricket team has taken a shocking turn amid new cheating allegations.

Vice captain Ashleigh Gardner has been accused of cheating on her wife, Monica Wright, with teammate Georgia Voll.

Ms Wright made the bombshell accusations on Monday morning, following an article that claimed Gardener had suddenly walked away from their marriage after the cricket team’s India tour.

Wright then posted an image of Ms Gardner’s teammate, Georgia Voll, with the caption: “This is who my wife cheated on me with.”

Gardner and Voll were both key members of the Aussie XI that won the Twenty20 World Cup at Lord’s just a week ago.

Gardner has been a staple of the team for the best part of a decade and is currently vice-captain to Sophie Molineux.

The cheating allegations come just over a year after the two married in a secluded Blue Mountains retreat after they met on a dating app in 2020.

Previous reports suggest the marriage had already showed signs of strain when the Aussie team travelled to India for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in November.

Daily Mail previously reported a source close to the team told said there was some awkwardness during the tour when Ms Wright flew over to India to see her wife.

“It was like something was a little bit off with Ash, but we thought it was because of the pressure of the World Cup,” they told The Daily Mail.

Upon the couple’s return back to their Sydney home after the end of the tournament, the duo are believed to have spoken about their relationship and decided to end their marriage, according to Daily Mail.

“Ash left one day. Monica came home and everything of Ash’s was gone, except for the rings,” a source told The Mail.

“She left the wedding rings in the cupboard. Just the box of wedding rings, and that was it.”

The Herald Sun reported that the couple is no longer living in their luxury Davidson home, near Frenchs Forest on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The 29-year-old cricketer is understood to have moved out of the home the couple shared in November, with Ms Wright remaining in the home.

According to The Herald Sun, a neighbour said that a furniture removal truck was seen at the home just days before news broke on Monday, and the property is now empty with no furniture or personal items left inside.

It is believed that the news of the split came as a shock to members of the cricket team, some of whom had built up friendships with Ms Wright over the years.
