Spaniard Jorge Martin has won the German Grand Prix for Pramac Racing after a thrilling duel with Ducati's reigning MotoGP champion, Italian Francesco Bagnaia.

The pair crossed the line just 0.064 of a second apart at the Sachsenring circuit on Sunday, their bikes also touching in the heat of battle two laps from the chequered flag.

Martin's French teammate Johann Zarco completed the podium as Ducati riders filled the top five places and eight of the top nine.

Australian Jack Miller was the one man to break Ducati's monopoly, finishing sixth on his Red Bull KTM, with the man from Townsville now lying seventh overall in the riders' standings on 79 points.

But he would have hoped for more after a rocket start in which he briefly held the lead but suffered a setback when his rear tyre slid on entry to Turn 11 and he slipped back to fourth.

Bagnaia, leading the way with 160 points, had his advantage cut to 16 points as Martin (144pts), also the winner of the Saturday sprint, celebrated a weekend double and his first grand prix victory since the Styrian round at Austria's Red Bull Ring in August 2021.
