Floyd Mayweather labels Conor McGregor ‘extremely heavy’ ahead of bout

VideoThe Sunday morning, Perth venues will open early and put on specials and VIP events for the hugely anticipated clash between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Here's just a few to consider.

Floyd Mayweather has taunted Conor McGregor by warning him he could lose millions if he doesn’t drop 10 pounds before Friday’s weigh-in.

Mayweather has expressed concerns that McGregor is looking like coming into fight night over the weight limit of 154 pounds.

The American is so confident of beating McGregor he decided to wolf down a Burger King just days before the fight.

Mayweather said that McGregor is extremely heavy at the moment and only has a matter days to lose the weight or he will be paying Mayweather millions in a fine.

Unbeaten Mayweather will not cancel the fight if McGregor missed weight, but will instead seek a chunk of the Irishman’s purse for the fight.

Mayweather told Fight Hype: “Conor McGregor is extremely heavy right now, extremely heavy”.

Mayweather said that he thinks McGregor is at least 10 pounds over weight.

The 40-year-old also took aim at UFC president Dana White.

He added: “I think he’s 164, so he’s still got 10 pounds to go, you go get that extra money if you can’t make the weight, get them extra millions ready Dana, somebody got to pay a fine.

“He got to get that weight down like a true champion, a true champion is discipline, and very responsible.

“I don’t think he gonna make the weight, even if he do make the weight, that’s even better.

“But if he don’t make the weight, we still gonna fight but it’s going to be a heavy fine — get me that money.”

Heavy-favourite Mayweather has been in relaxed mood — despite a flurry of bets going onto the underdog McGregor.

SunSport reported how he still had time to show off his multi-million dollar watch collection.

The former five-division world champion revealed a dazzling set of diamond, emerald and ruby-encrusted timepieces while jetting to Las Vegas.

Mayweather, who Forbes values at $428 million, explained he had splashed out on some new bling ahead of his press tour this week.

Among the watches was a $490000 white gold Patek Philippe, a $510000 “gift” from MGM Grand and a 101 he bought in Dubai for “over 1 million dollars ($1.25 million)”.

Mayweather, 40, told Fight Hype: “The MGM Grand bought me this, it cost $510000 dollars.

“[Only] seven of these made in the world.”

Combat sports and TV experts say the Connor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight should be the biggest pay-per-view event in history with more than 50 million watching in the U.S.

Sunday’s fight threatens the pay-per-view revenue record set by Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao two years ago. McGregor’s UFC fans and the curious drawn by his trash-talking could help this event dwarf the overall viewership record, as people use the fight as a reason to have friends and family over for an hour of escapism.

The fight will also be seen by millions more worldwide, with promoters claiming it will be available either online or on a TV screen to more than 1 billion homes in 200 different countries.
