Who impressed and who didn’t in Fremantle’s win over GWS Giants
It was an arm-wrestle until the final term before Fremantle took complete control for a memorable win in Canberra.
Who impressed
Matt Taberner: Big factor from the start of the second term, kicking two goals as the Dockers tried to consolidate their lead. Seven marks inside 50m, 13 marks all up and three goals. Only aspect that let him down was accuracy kicking for goal.

Michael Walters: While on the ball, used explosive speed and great kicking to set up many Dockers attacks. Still found time to kick three majors himself, including one in the middle of a five-goal purple patch that sealed the win.
Stephen Coniglio: Composure and expert ball delivery under pressure was his hallmark. Massive first quarter netted 14 touches and he finished with 37 disposals and a great goal in the first term.
Ed Langdon: With 32 touches, was the Dockers’ leading ball winner for the day and resolute for four quarters. Finished with 10 marks and four inside 50m.
Nat Fyfe: Big influence particularly after quarter-time, with damaging clearances setting up goal-scoring opportunities and helped the Dockers forge a useful lead. Maintained the rage in the second half and finished 13 clearances and 31 disposals.
Lachie Whitfield: Just ran and ran foir the Giants. In one small period of the third term, was on one wing in a contest then sprinted to the other as the Giants switched play, moments later was on a lead in the forward line.
Who didn’t
Bradley Hill: Tagged by Matt de Boer early before going forward. Did not have much influence on the game early. Ended up with 15 touches but quiet by his standards.
Brennan Cox: Just seven disposals after coming into the side as a late replacement for Cam McCarthy and largely unsighted for much of the game.
Phil Davis: The Giants captain finished the game with ice strapped to his left ankle.
