West Australian Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo hopes to spread special message through new helmet design

Western Australian Formula One star Daniel Ricciardo is sharing love, positivity and acceptance through a newly designed helmet he will wear for the upcoming 2021 season.

Revealing the helmet, which was designed by LA-based Australian artist Ornamental Conifer, Ricciardo said he was “stoked” with the aqua blue lid in a message on Instagram.

Ricciardo hopes to spread the message of “All Good, Always” through his new safety wear.

“(It’s) two-fold really. I think it’s always going to be all right, you know the sun will shine, you may have your ups and downs, but it’s just trying to be positive with anything you do,” Ricciardo said.

“And the second part is no matter where you come from, what walk of life, race, religion, whichever - all good, always.

The helmet also features the logo for Mind Australia, one of Australia’s leading community-managed specialist mental health service.

On the back it has his nickname “Honey Badger” and on the side has his famed number three.

The 31-year-old will wear the design as he enters a new stage of his career after signing a two-year deal to join McLaren from Renault, where he will team with young British driver Lando Norris.

Ricciardo is known for his different helmet designs since leaving Red Bull, going with a pastel colours in 2019 as well as a a retro design in the 1000th GP in China that same year and another with a glitter effect for the night racing in Singapore.

In his final race with Renault, Ricciardo wore a special chrome helmet.

The first race of the 2021 series will be the Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on March 28.

The Australian Grand Prix, Ricciardo’s home event, is set for November 21 at Melbourne’s Albert Park.
