Fremantle will play their 12th Sunday match for the season, taking on Brisbane at Optus Stadium.

The Game AFL 2024

The Dockers traded their round eight home fixture with the Lions to avoid a crowdless home game during WA’s lockdown in May.

The Lions will join the Demons in quarantine, and could remain in WA for a fortnight given they still have a match to come against West Coast to see out the season.

That would mean the Western Derby gets pushed back to a remarkable final round blockbuster as both WA sides battle it out for a spot in the top eight.

Under the WA Government arrangement with the AFL, players and staff from interstate clubs can train and play while in hotel quarantine. Most clubs have used Joondalup Resort as a base.

The Demons were scheduled to arrive in Perth on Saturday before their round 20 fixture against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium was postponed following the announcement of a snap three-day lockdown in Queensland.

That game was moved to Marvel and played a day later on Sunday, but the Demons were unaffected by the detour as they thrashed the Suns by 98 points.

Brisbane’s road trip from Tasmania follows a 12-point upset loss to 17th-placed Hawthorn.

“While the fixture for the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season remains a week-to-week proposition, we will continue to make changes that best navigate the current environment, progresses our season and helps protect the health and safety of those in our game and the wider community,” AFL fixtures boss Travis Auld said.
