Nic Naitanui’s teammates have jumped at the opportunity to poke fun at the star ruckman’s heavy media workload in a light-hearted social media video.

Captain Luke Shuey and four-time All-Australian defender Jeremy McGovern enjoyed poking fun at Naitanui’s intense media spotlight, which arguably garners more attention than any other WA footy player.

“Beautiful. Just what we need, more Nic on TV,” Shuey sarcastically said.

“Yeah great - and out of all blokes, they’ve got HIM running a kicking comp. They must’ve lost the big fella’s number,” McGovern adds, insinuating himself.

Outside of their premiership medallions, one thing Shuey and McGovern have in common is their famous match-winning goals - both against Port Adelaide, in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

McGovern joked his clutch after-the-siren efforts should’ve earned him the rights to run the kicking competition as the team’s benchmark.

“Yours? You think you’re the best kick in the team?!” Shuey laughed.

“MATE, 2018, Port Adelaide after the siren – clutch,” Gov swiftly responded.

“Try doing it in extra-time, in a final, after the siren,” Shuey said, in reference to his efforts at Adelaide Oval in the 2017 elimination final.

“Not bad. Free kick was definitely there though,” McGovern says with a big eye roll.

The captain suggested that was ‘irrelevant’, despite previously admitting he’d ducked into the tackle to receive the free.

Naitanui chimes in from the peanut gallery to remind his teammates of his incredible crumbing goal with three seconds to go against GWS in 2016, as well as his after the siren winner against North Melbourne in 2013.

But they weren’t interested in hearing about his clutch effort, instead taking the chance to remind him he wasn’t getting through his latest media stunt unscathed.

“Are you shooting ANOTHER commercial?” Shuey asks.

“Yeah, I’m covering for you two. You both said you were busy today..” Naitanui responds.

“Yeah we’re flat out Nic,” Shuey says while sitting on a coach with McGovern.

“Probably still got you on the kick though I reckon,” Gov adds.

“Right-o ‘big fella’, let’s go,” Shuey said, as they go outside to compare trick shots for the kicking competition video.

Good humour.
