Woman finds decades-old photograph of her family hanging in San Diego AirBnB

A family have been left “spiralling” after an “unsettling” find in an Airbnb.

While visiting San Diego in the US, Aubrey Birrell noticed something peculiar about a photo hanging on the wall.

In the hallway, a large canvas with an aerial photograph of a beach.

In a TikTok which has since gone viral with more than 850,000 views, Ms Birrell and her sister, Libby, explained their shock at realising the image included their family members.

“The weirdest thing happened,” she says at the beginning, before her sister added that it was “unsettling”.

The pair explain that they arrived at the Airbnb in San Diego, to which they had “no connections”, before her dad made the unusual discovery.

“My dad is like, ‘This looks like me’,” she said.

“And I’m like, ‘Oh, Dad, what’.”

But on closer inspection, the family realised it was not just a look-alike in the photo.

“This is my dad,” Ms Birrell said, pointing to a man in the ocean.

“That’s my sister,” she added, before panning the camera to Libby.

“And that’s Brady, my brother, 10 years ago.

“They’re literally in the Airbnb picture.”

Ms Birrell added that it was “the craziest thing” to find themselves on the Airbnb wall.

In the TikTok, both sisters are giggling with their hands on their head, shocked at the revelation.

“We are on our Airbnb wall, this can’t be real,” Libby said.

“We’re actually spiralling.”

Many commenters suggested it was “the start of a horror movie” or “a prank”.

Ms Birrell said her family were searching for their own photographs from the beach included on the canvas, and would be contacting the Airbnb hosts about the image.
