Perth weather: Temperatures plummet as metro area braces for Thursday thunderstorm

If you struggled to get out of bed this morning, it may not have been Mondayitis.

Overnight temperatures in Perth have plummeted over the last week, with a low of just 8.2C on Saturday, 7.2C on Sunday, and 11C on Monday morning.

And if the cold weather wasn’t enough, Perth is set to be hit with heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next couple of days.

An upper level trough is bringing moisture down from the north of the State, Jim Richardson from the Bureau of Meteorology said.

On Tuesday afternoon the trough will move south, bringing rain and possible thunderstorms. Up to 15mm is expected on Tuesday and 17mm on Wednesday.

Late Wednesday showers are expected to ease, but will make way for another trough on Thursday, set to bring 16mm of rain.

On Friday isolated showers are set to clear ahead of cool and dry conditions over the weekend.
