Victorians have shivered through their coldest morning of the year so far.

Inland temperatures dropped to zero overnight, while Melbourne saw lows of between five and six degrees in the early hours of the morning.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Chris Arvier told AAP it looks like the coldest Melbourne night since at least October.

"It was very cold across the state last night, and the coldest morning of the year so far," he said.

Temperatures in Horsham dropped to minus 1C, and Ballarat saw minus 2C.

There should be some relief from Tuesday's stormy weather, with a mostly dry day forecast for Wednesday.

But on Thursday another cold front will cross the southern parts of the state, bringing low cloud and drizzle that will last until Sunday.
