Two teenage girls aged just 13 and 14 have been charged after they allegedly stabbed and attempted to carjack a new mother in the Pilbara. The terrifying attack took place in Wickham on Thursday night. Police say the attack unfolded about 7pm as a husband and wife were driving home from the hospital with their newborn baby. They stopped at a shopping complex in the town to get food. While the husband was in the shops, two girls approached the mother and her baby in the car and tried to steal the vehicle, police allege. One of the girls jumped in the car and tried to drive off. As the mother attempted to stop them she was stabbed several times, police have claimed. The girls fled empty handed and without the car but they were swiftly apprehended, police say. The baby was not hurt in the ordeal but the mother underwent treatment for non life threatening injuries in hospital. The two teenage girls have both been charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful wounding.
