WA Police are investigating the dumping of a car on a popular Perth beach after video emerged of what appears to be the Ford Falcon performing a burnout in a nearby carpark.

The vehicle was found on Saturday morning in the sand between Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club and Il Lido Italian Canteen with a shredded rear tyre, torn off side mirror and dented front panels.

A WA Police spokeswoman said officers launched a probe after dramatic footage emerged online of a silver wagon blanketing a Marine Parade carpark in smoke after performing a skid.

The vehicle then continues driving down the coastal strip towards the area where it was found in the morning.

At 10.20am, Town of Cottesloe rangers placed cones around the car and by midday police officers were at the scene.

The spokeswoman said there were no missing vehicle reports that matched the Ford Falcon’s registration plate.

Bottles of beer and cider could be seen strewn across the front of the vehicle, while Margaret River, Augusta and Yallingup bumper stickers featured on the back.

The new feature didn’t seem to faze a group of beach volleyball players who continued their game as rangers worked out what to do with the situation.

One bypasser joked that either the annual Cottesloe-based art event Sculpture By The Sea had returned earlier than usual or the driver struggled to find a carpark like many beachgoers during the busy summer months.
