Police are investigating a major crash in WA’s south west after a car lost control near Wagerup on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services responded about 1.30pm to the single-vehicle roll over on South Western Highway near the Marriott Road intersections.

Five fire trucks and two SES crews were called to the wreck and pulled one person from the wreckage.

It’s unclear how many people were involved or how badly injured but locals told 10 News they saw at least four police cars traveling to the crash site with lights and sirens on.

Traffic was diverted and that section of the South Western Highway was expected to remain closed for most of the night.
