A man has died after he went overboard from a cargo ship in Port Hedland. Around 11.20am, Port Hedland vessel traffic services reported that a crew member was missing, and suspected overboard, from a cargo ship carrier called Stellar Way. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority tasked a local helicopter to search and boats in the area also began to search for the man. The Fremantle Water Police notified AMSA that the body of a man matching the description of the missing crew member had been found. “AMSA wishes to express condolences to the family and crew of the deceased,” a spokesperson said. The cargo ship was at anchorage at Port Hedland at the time.
