A Subiaco man will face a court today on a string of charges for deliberately lit fires in bushland across the Perth metro area.

The 32-year-old was arrested and charged yesterday with four counts of wilfully lighting or causing a fire likely to injure or damage.

His charges come after Arson Squad detectives investigated several blazes in the Perth CBD, Innaloo and City Beach areas between August and October.

Police will allege the man lit a fire in City Beach’s Bold Park about 11.40pm on August 9 and near Forrest Drive in Kings Park about 4am on October 18.

It’s alleged he struck again on Wednesday when a fire started again in Bold Park about 9.20am and then near Cedric Street in Innaloo about 12.30pm.

His arrest yesterday came as Perth recorded 35C-plus conditions — one of the hottest October days in seven years.
