If you’re planning to go on a long weekend road trip, now’s the time to fill up your car.

Filling up in Perth tonight could save you almost $20 a tank, with some fuel stations hiking their prices tomorrow.

Some stations will increase their unleaded petrol prices by up to 36 cents per litre tomorrow, meaning the average 55-litre fuel tank will cost an extra $19.80 to fill.

The State Government’s price watchdog FuelWatch has warned petrol will increase by an average of 24 c/litre at Perth fuel stations, hitting 120.7 c/litre tomorrow.

Caltex, Caltex Woolworths and Coles Express will charge up to 129.9 c/litre tomorrow, while 7-Eleven and BP stations will charge up to 127.9 c/litre. Vibe stations will be among the cheapest, charging 125.7 c/litre.

Perth’s weekly petrol price cycle means the cheapest prices usually fall on a Monday and Tuesday, while Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to the most expensive.

The cycle usually leads to long queues of motorists trying to save a few bucks at the servo on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Tonight’s cheapest fuel is being sold at Costco at Perth Airport, where petrol costs just 88.7 c/litre — or an average of $48.79 for a full tank.

The next cheapest stations are at Caltex StarMart stations in Doubleview and Mundaring and Shell in High Wycombe, where petrol costs just 91.9 c/litre.

Perth motorists have been enjoying prices not seen for more than a decade due to a drop in international prices and a decline in demand due to people isolating during the COVID-19 crisis.

While many stations will ramp up their prices tomorrow, FuelWatch says there will still be more than 35 servos selling fuel for less than 94 c/litre.

The difference between the most expensive and cheapest fuel stations will be 41 cents — or $22.55 a tank.

Shell at High Wycombe, Costco at Perth Airport, 7-Eleven in Bassendean, Caltex Woolworths in Ellenbrook and Puma in Neerabup will be among the cheapest stations in Perth tomorrow.
