East Kimberley teen flown to Darwin hospital after alleged Kununurra stabbing

An East Kimberley teen was flown to Darwin hospital at the weekend after being stabbed in the chest in the Kununurra.

The 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed on Erythrina Street in Kununurra’s town centre about 11:30pm on Friday, January 14 after getting into a physical altercation with a 20-year-old man.

He was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment and remained in a serious but stable condition on Monday afternoon.

The 20-year-old man was charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court via videolink the following morning.

He will re-appear in Kununurra Magistrates Court on Friday.
