An East Kimberley post office has been named one of the best in the State at the 2019-20 Licenced Post Office Retail Awards.

Halls Creek Post Office licensee Anthony King and his staff Jenice Gordon, Shontalee Yeeda, Natasha Niven and Ros-maria Eastman have been recognised as the best performing licenced post office in the north-east network.

There are 56 LPOs in the north-east network, which covers a large area of Western Australia from some metropolitan suburbs in Perth right up to Wyndham.

Australia Post WA/SA post office network general manager Donna Vecchio said the local team was recognised for its hard work and commitment to the community.

“Each year we acknowledge our post office licensees who have worked the hardest for their communities — to help them find the right products, understand how to lodge applications or parcels in the right way, and importantly, to keep their staff and customers safe,” she said.

“The team at Halls Creek post office have done an amazing job this year to come out on top and I congratulate them for all their efforts in receiving best performing licensed post office in the north-east network.”

Mr King said he could not thank his staff enough for their hard work and focus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have four fantastic team members who have kept up with everything I’ve thrown at them this year,” he said. “With people at home more, and unable to leave the Kimberley, our parcel volumes just skyrocketed!

“It was a challenge keeping up with the extra demand while making sure we were being safe — but everyone has done this really well, and our customers have been very understanding.”

He said he hoped his team would see the recognition as a “massive thank you” for all their hard work and as an opportunity to build more self-confidence.
