An Australind couple is celebrating 60 years of love following their diamond wedding anniversary last Thursday.

Smiling from ear to ear, Dennis and Wilma Jetta were the perfect picture of happy last week.

Originally from the Wheatbelt, the Jettas moved to the Bunbury area in the 1980s and have been here ever since.

The pair have six children, 24 grandchildren and 45 great grand children — a big family which makes the effort to get together for Christmas every few years.

Daughter Glenda Humphries said her parents created a home filled with love and worked hard to provide for the family.

Over the years, I’ve loved learning from them about our Noongar culture, the closeness of family and the local area we were born in and the Bunbury area we’ve lived in since the 80s.

“Mum always been a loving caring parent and always made sure we had everything we needed.

“They always made sure we had food on the table — Dad always worked hard for us.

The Jettas have spent almost 40 years in the Christian church and served as church leaders for many years in the Noongar Bunbury Christian Fellowship, as well as belonging to the Bunbury Aboriginal Elders Group.

Ms Humphries said the most important part of her parents’ relationship was the family bond they created.

“Even to this day, if any of us kids or grandkids call in, he’s there trying to help,” she said.

“We have a very close family bond and everyone loves them dearly.”
