Woodside welcomes 32 new apprentices and trainees to Karratha-based Production Training Academy

An oil and gas powerhouse has accepted 32 new apprentices and trainees into its Karratha-based training academy. All but one of the new recruits at Woodside’s Production Training Academy are local residents. The latest intake comprises 12 apprentices and 20 trainees, including pre-pathway, business, laboratory, logistics and operator trainees. Seven of the recruits are recent school leavers. The new recruits take the total number of trainees and apprentices at Woodside-operated Karratha facilities to 95. The Production Training Academy was launched in 2010 to provide employment and training opportunity for local youth, helping them gain the skills needed for future careers in the mining sector. Production Training Academy team leader Donna Walker said this was an exciting time for the trainees and apprentices. “It is fantastic to see such an eager group ready to learn and grasp the opportunities ahead,” she said. “Every one of them has worked hard to get here and we look forward to supporting them as they navigate the training and development ahead. There is no limit to what our new recruits can achieve.”
