Wasted Talent crowned Karratha Senior Soccer summer competition winners with 3-0 victory

Wasted Talent took out the Karratha Senior Soccer summer competition grand final with a hard-fought 3-0 victory over Allstars. The final took place earlier this month at Tambrey Oval after an eight-week, seven-a-side competition culminating in a grand final tournament. The semifinals and premiership match took place on the same night with Allstars and Wasted Talent progressing to the last dance. Wasted Talent held a 1-0 lead at half-time before a late two-goal burst in the dying minutes of the game saw Wasted Talent run away with a 3-0 victory. Karratha Senior Soccer president Lewis Dye said it was a great, hotly contested game with about 40 spectators. Dye said it had been a long journey to grow a senior soccer league in Karratha. “It’s something that we’ve had in the works trying to get going and we’re actually looking in a position now where we’re going to have a full season set up for adults where it’s going to likely be a nine-a-side competition,” he said. “Over the last season or two we’ve done a seven-a-side competition just so that we can keep adults interested and keep the sport growing. “But overall, I’ve seen the numbers double from maybe 40 players to where we can now get 80-100 plus players coming in and want to play. Dye said the nine player winter competition would be kicking off next month and would run alongside the juniors competition.
