A cohort of 12 talented swimmers from Karratha’s Amateur Swimming Club travelled to Perth over the weekend to compete in the WA Junior and End of Season Championships.

The Karratha swimmers competed over four days of competition at HBF Stadium, going up against some of the best young swimmers in the state from April 11-14.

Zane Bennett, Bodie Biddiscombe, Finn Murphy, Poppy Chennell-Kuehne, Isla Grigg, Jack Grylls, Grace Latham, Reily Latham, Tau Mackenzie, Zac Mackenzie, Kodie Taylor and Abby Smith made up the contingent of Karratha swimmers.

Abby Smith, 16, was the top swimmer for Karratha coming in fifth in the 50m backstroke event, fourth in the 100m backstroke event and fifth in 50m butterfly in the women’s 15 years and older division.

It comes after Karratha Amateur Swimming Club smashed 46 personal bests at the WA Country Championships held at HBF Stadium in January.
