Karratha Kats down Dampier Taverners 2 to maintain grip on second spot in West Pilbara T20 competition

An all-around performance from Karratha Kats saw the side cruise to a 37-run victory over Dampier Taverners 2 in the West Pilbara Cricket Association T20 competition.
Dampier won the toss on February 25 and sent Kats in to bat first at Millars Well Oval, with opener Jackson Davey hitting a quickfire 20 from 10 deliveries before he was dismissed.
Solid starts from Shane Edwards, Michael James and Cody Bone steered the Kats to a solid 8-146 at the end of the innings.
Murphy Watts was the pick of the Dampier bowlers with 3-22 from two overs.
Dampier’s run chase began with a stumble when James dismissed Zane Goes for a three-ball duck in the opening over.
However, opener Kade Rowe dug in to hit a determined 48 from 56 before he was dismissed to leave his side at 7-88.
In the end, Dampier limped home to finish 8-109.
Pegs Creek 1 skittled Rec Club for just 37 on the back of a five-wicket haul from Daniel Beier.
A Lachlan Seabrook masterclass of 40 from just nine balls, including five sixes, saw Pegs race to a 10-wicket victory in just two overs, finishing 0-43.
Nickol Hawks (4-132) defeated Baynton Lions (8-128), seeing the Hawks keep their grasp on the fourth spot on the ladder and draw equal on points with the Lions in third.
Hawks were in control throughout the contest, restricting their opponents to just 128 before chasing down the total with five balls to spare.
In their second game of the round, Karratha Kats downed Dampier Taverners 1 with a powerful display of bowling and batting.
Kats made 4-162, with Edwards top-scoring with 71, before the side skittled Dampier Taverners 1 for 89, with Michael James snaring 4-13.
A dominant innings from Simon Kott (82) powered Pegs Creek 2 to victory over the Rec Club, defeating Rec Club by 20 runs.
And in the final game of the round, Wickham defeated Nickol Hawks 3-138 to 135 to win by seven wickets.
