Exmouth residents and visitors to the region can expect plenty of live entertainment, art, and gourmet food when the Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival returns in May.

The festival will be a three-day event held from May 25-27 in which the streets of Exmouth will be transformed into a sea of colour.

The annual festival highlights the community’s relationship with whale sharks — otherwise known as the gentle giants of the ocean.

One of Exmouth’s best-loved bands, Blue Shaddy, has been announced as one of the leading acts, alongside The Tommyhawks, Gascoyne in May, and Ash Grunwald.

The weekend’s festivities will kick off on Friday, May 25 with a Gala Festival Opening, where guests are invited to enjoy an evening of live performances and gourmet food at Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort.

On Saturday, the 35m Whale Shark Marquee at Talanjee Oval will hold live entertainment throughout the day from 10am-5pm and punters can enjoy browsing an array of food and market stalls.

Food-lovers can take tips from junior master chef judge and celebrity chef Anna Gare, who will present a cooking demonstration.

There will be plenty of entertainment suitable for children, including interactive workshops, a fun run, and activities with renowned marine professionals.
