Australian Olympic water polo royalty Zoe Arancini was in town last week and shared her talents with both senior and junior players during round five of the Karratha Water Polo Association competition.

Arancini took part in an A-grade women’s match on Thursday, donning a Pirates cap and scoring three effortless goals against the Barracudas.

Bree Babao followed suit and scored another two goals for the Pirates, including an impressive penalty shot, proving even as a junior she is an asset to her team.

The Barracudas had an equally strong match with pocket-rocket Louise Purkis putting away two for her team and bringing the final score 6-5 to Barracudas.

The Wahoo men had another hard-fought win in the B-grade league, sharing goals across the entire team list, including two apiece from Josh Desouza and Cohen Regan.

Brad Roe from the Trouts was strong in defence, intercepting several shots at goals and assisting with turnovers. The final score for the men was 10-7.

The Sharks were missing a number of their key players in match one for the A-grade men, losing their four-week winning streak to the Krakens.

Sprinter Byron Newbold and leftie Daniel Whitehead starred for the Krakens. Final score for the night was 12-5 to the Krakens.

The second A-grade men’s match saw the Pirates take on the Barracudas.

Justin Angove carried the Pirates with five goals and Nigel Kroonstuiver secured four for Barracudas.

In the end the Pirates were the dominant team, winning 8-7.
