An exhibition showcasing Ngurra through the eyes of young Roebourne residents has opened at the historic Cossack townsite. The exhibit, Our Ngurra — Young People Capturing Culture, Country and Leadership, was launched on Friday night and features photos taken by Roebourne students as part of the youth-focused leadership development Banthunguru-bura program. Over nine months young people from the program have been working with Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi man Clinton Walker and Big hART to change their perception of country. As part of the Banthunguru-bura project the participants have worked with Murujuga rangers and Ngurrangga Tours to learn about culture, history, leadership and caring for country. The trips provided an opportunity for young people to see their country from a new perspective with the participants taking time and care to document significant places, moments, and people through a camera lens. The exhibit will run until June 27.
