Wickham will host finals footy this year after the table-topping Wolves knocked off the Dampier Sharks (74) to 5.13 (43).

The Wolves started the final quarter ahead by 13 points and had the legs to bring the game home, running in three goals to nil to close out the game.

For Wickham it is a chance to forget about the heartbreak of 2016, where the hot favourites lost two straight home finals games to miss a golden opportunity for the flag.

Wolves fans were also celebrating the reserves sides’ big win over the Port Hedland Rovers.

The home side put on a blistering final term to record a comfortable 12.7 (79) to 3.6 (24) win.

In Millars well the Karratha Kats kept their title defence ambitions alive with an emphatic 10-goal victory over the South Hedland Swans.

It was the Swans who looked the goods out of the block. The visitors took mere seconds to get on the scoreboard and were camped in their forward 50 for the opening minutes.

After a dressing down by their coach in the break, the Kats came out in the second a different team.

By the main break the scoreline had blown out to 11.2 (68) to 4.5 (29), and another five goals in the third term all but booked the Kats’ preliminary final date.

The Kats reserves booked their Grand Final date earlier in the night, with a nail-biting five-point win over the Karratha Falcons.

The home side got off to a flyer but were reeled back in by the Falcons, resulting in a tit-for-tat final term.

The Kats held their nerve to win the game 9.7 (61) to 9.2 (56), with Daniel Farmer booting three majors.
