Upgrade of Tom Price skate park to continue with 2021-22 budget approved

Tom Price’s highly anticipated skate park upgrade will continue this month following the endorsement of the 2021-22 Shire of Ashburton budget last week. Work at the site began earlier this year and includes a new flow bowl and skate obstacles such as a stair set, A-frame and bank to extension. Shire of Ashburton president Kerry White said he welcomed the developments following a period of community consultation. “The main addition to the skate park will be a feature fishbowl element,” she said. “An additional section will also be created expanding the skate park and includes some of the most frequently requested skate park obstacles. “Council is aware of the popularity of the skate park in Tom Price and are confident that the completed project will meet community expectations and the park will provide a quality amenity for the community for years to come”. A request for tender is being prepared as well as an approved design and specifications. Construction of the $950,000 project is expected to commence late 2021.
