Top skills on display at monthly mug comp
Karratha Golf Club’s monthly mug competition had another good turnout last Saturday, though it still did not feel like winter.
Players competed over 18 holes, and by the end of the round the winner was Nick Hegan with a score of 64.
Trevor Kawadza finished in second place with 67 and Gina Hipworth was third on 71.
Hipworth had a great day on the green, also claiming nearest the pin on the 11th and 16th and best third shot on the 6th.
The round’s other stand-outs included Nathan Woods, who won best gross score and best second shot on the 7th, and Tony Knowlson for best third shot on the 12th and longest putt on the 13th.
Sunan Ong-Arch won the ladies’ long drive and Stephen Giles won the men’s long drive prize.
Nearest the pin on the 5th and 8th went to Justin Oui and Jenni Peters respectively.
Robert Manners won longest putt on the 2nd and Lynda Giles collected the NAGA prize.
Dot Abbott was named the best ladies’ player of the day and June Worsley was deemed the best veteran.
Next weekend Karratha Golf Club will host foursome matches, and is also holding a junior golf clinic on Friday afternoon.
