Basketball kicked off its summer season in Karratha with two nights of action-packed games.

Trouts Blue took on Northern Spirit Bala Boys at the Karratha Leisureplex last Thursday in round one of the 2020/21 Karratha Basketball Association season.

It was a back-and-forth contest in the first half, with the Bala Boys taking a two-point lead at half-time.

The Trouts refused to back down, snatching the lead early in the second half before pushing it out to a five-point lead.

Bala Boys fought back with the final six scoring shots of the game to down the Trouts by six points, 26-20.

Quintel Wailu starred on the court for Northern Spirit Bala Boys with seven points, while the Trouts’ Benjamin Vassallo had eight points.

In the other division one games, Northern Spirit dominated Cyclone Development 49-27 on the back of a second-half blitz, with Northern Spirit scoring 31 points.

Meanwhile, Flames Black held off Pardoo Katz 28-22, and Flames Grey beat the Outlaws 34-27.

It was a heated night in division two, with Vipers beating Northern Spirit Saints 38-36, while Roebourne Titans were too strong for Flames 2 Black with a 24-point victory 40-16, and Roebourne Villages beat the Thirsty Trouts 29-23.

In division three, the Redbacks tore apart Trouts 51-4, while Flames Black downed Misfits 31-18, and Flames Orange burnt the Vipers 23-18.

In the women’s division one, Flames Grey won against Trouts White by three points 23-20, while Northern Spirit Lynx held off Trouts Blue 27-24.

In division two, Cyclones Development swept away Goat Trouts 26-13 and Majick beat Flames 2 Black 27-19.

Wickham Women’s 3 proved too strong for Trouts White in their division three game, taking the victory 23-18 and in the final game of the round, Flames 3 Orange scorched Swish Swish Bish 34-20.
