Tight fight for Karratha swimming titles
Karratha swimmers dug deep and put in some strong performances in the pool at their swimming club championships this month.
Hosted by the Karratha Leisureplex pool on the afternoon of Saturday, April 7 about 40 young athletes braved humid conditions to take part in the club’s major competitive event of the season, which determines who is named its champion swimmers for the year.
Swimmers competed across all strokes and medleys during about two hours, with some good times in the mix.
Karratha Swimming Club president Alison Ure said there had been strong swimming by all entrants.
“It was wonderful to see some new faces taking part for the first time and it looks like we may have ended up with a couple of ties for champions,” she said.
“Hopefully, the kids can hold off until our presentation afternoon and AGM ... to find out who the winners are.”
Champion swimmers will be announced at the club’s AGM on Sunday, May 20.
Club members have recently finished their final week of summer training before the holidays, and will soon start their winter training program.
