Shire of Ashburton secures funding to assist town’s sports clubs

The Shire of Ashburton has secured funding to assist the town’s 157 community sports and active recreation clubs. The $30,000 funding was secured through the Every Club grant scheme funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. Shire of Ashburton president Kerry White said she was pleased the Shire was one of the successful applicants. “Sporting and community groups as well as volunteer associations are at the heart of each of our towns across the Shire,” she said. “A cornerstone of remote living, clubs and community groups provide social outlets for recreation, health and wellbeing in our towns.” Sports and Recreation Minister Tony Buti said the scheme supported sport and recreation clubs to build their governance, planning and management practice.
