Rod Gethin earns gruelling Yara Dr Baynton’s 6 Hour Remedy crown after taming gruelling track

Riders in Karratha tested their limits in a gruelling six-hour endurance race over the weekend, battling the conditions as they tamed a brutal race track.

The Burrup Mountain Bike Club held the Yara Dr Baynton’s 6 Hour Remedy on June 18 with riders across eight categories competing on a 10.5km course.

In the solo male category, Rod Gethin tamed the track and completed a gruelling nine laps to finish in first place with a time of 5hr. 33min. 34sec. and ahead of second placed Keiran Dart.

Justin Crabbe finished third after completing seven laps in 5:19:10.

In the male teams division, the four-person team of All Cycles claimed the victory after snatching the lead in the second lap and finishing 12 laps in a time of 5:51:15.

Wheelie Awesome (10 laps) came home in second while Sons Of Pitchers trailed in third.

The duo male category went down to the wire with the top three separated by just 18 minutes after nearly six hours of racing.

Coming home first was Dumb And Dumber 5:32:31, three minutes clear of second placed 95 Percent while Dads Bods Racing rounded out the podium in a time of 5:50:30.

Meanwhile in the women’s categories Pillie Peri claimed the solo crown ahead of Lizeth De La Hoz Ruiz and Total Bs took out the duo female division.

Cranks were the duo mixed winners, taking the victory after completing 10 laps in a time of 5:54:56, three and a half minutes clear of Cos We Are Not In Our 30s.

A social 6km loop was also held with The Last Minutes winning the junior mixed category ahead of Pilbara Pirates and Turbo Turtles.

Meanwhile Gears And Beers came first in the senior social mixed teams.
