A Rio Tinto employee has been injured in an incident at the miner’s Parker Point port facility in Dampier.

Rio Tinto confirmed a serious, non-life threatening incident occurred on November 18 at the port.

A spokesman said the company was investigating the incident.

“The health and safety of our workforce is our number-one priority,” he said. “We are investigating how this incident occurred and what can be learnt from it.

“Rio Tinto is supporting the family of the injured person and their colleagues.”
