Two Exmouth creatives have weathered the COVID-19 storm to launch a new art gallery in the town. The gallery was launched by local resident and painter Sadie James and photographer Jess Hadden to showcase the beauty of the Ningaloo Reef. Still unnamed, the art and photo studio was leased by the duo, pictured, just before the virus hit. The launch was held at the venue, which is in the Driftwood Centre, before the celebrations continued at the Froth Craft Brewery. Ms James said they were presently trading under their own identities while they came up with a name for the studio. Most of her work is on canvas, with also graphic design imagery and prints applied to homewares. “Jess is showcasing the highlights of his photographic work over the last seven years he has been photographing the reef,” she said. “While I’ve been here nine years now, I’ve had a shop and studio in Coral Bay so this is an expansion for me.” Ms James said she hoped the gallery would provide visitors with a snapshot of their trips to the reef. “These are postcards of their bucket-list experiences and memorable encounters, and by framing them people can take Ningaloo away with them and spread awareness of the diversity we have up here,” she said.
