A weekend ram raid and robbery at a Karratha liquor store is under investigation.

Police allege at about 11pm on Saturday a stolen 4WD ute was backed into the front door of a local liquor store, smashing it open.

A group of offenders, who police believe to be three men in their early 20s, allegedly entered the store and stole a number of premixed drinks before leaving the scene.

Karratha police are investigating with the help of CCTV footage and forensics taken at the site, and inquiries are ongoing.

Karratha police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Andy Stevens said ram raids were a rare occurrence in Karratha.
