Point Samson shark incident prompts alert

A shark sighting alert has been issued for Sam’s Creek after an incident in which a man was bitten and sustained minor injuries yesterday.

The Pilbara News understands the man was swimming in the Sam’s Creek area, near Point Samson, at 3pm when he was bitten by an unknown species of shark.

He was taken to Roebourne Hospital with minor injuries but has since been discharged.

The Department of Fisheries are investigating after being notified of the incident this afternoon and have posted a shark sighting alert for Sam’s Creek on the Sharksmart website.

A department spokesman advised people to take extra care in the Sam’s Creek area and stay up-to-date with sighting information via the Sharksmart website on www.sharksmart.com.au
