A Pilbara photography company is in the running to win a prestigious national award for outstanding achievement and performance in small business.

Chosen from more than 2000 entries, Pilbara Site Pics has been shortlisted as a finalist in the specialised small business cate-gory of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards.

Founder Marg Bertling said it was a privilege for the Karratha-based company to be in the mix as one of Australia’s best small businesses.

“To be able to run a six-figure business that started earning $20,000 a year is not bad, and it’s been a saving grace through a lot of general changes and challenges that have arisen in my life,” she said.

“Every day I have is different and I get to mix with amazing people.

“I’m very fortunate that I work with a lot of other small businesses, too.”

Ms Bertling started Pilbara Site Pics 10 years ago and has grown the business to include videography and marketing. She won the ASBCA service category in 2015 and was selected as a finalist last year.

Ms Bertling said she was proud of having grown a thriving business in the isolated Pilbara.

“Being a woman in the Pilbara has its challenges, but to be in the Pilbara and 1600km away from the most isolated city in the world is something really special,” she said.

Winners will be announced at a presentation event in Sydney on April 6.
