The strength and talent of artists from around the Pilbara and Kimberley has been showcased by The Junction Co at the Courthouse Gallery and Studio in Port Hedland for the third year. The exhibitions, called Radius and All the violence within this, opened on Friday, February 25 and will be free to the public until May 9. Among the crew of six female artists, paint, resin, ceramics, dot painting and photography made for a surreal and constantly surprising exhibition. The open night saw visitors enjoy the lawn under the fairy lights, socialise and enjoy all things art. Chelsea Mcauliffe featured barnacles and oyster shells in her painting while Rachel Taylor harnessed the colours of the land through resin pours. The display focused on expressing ideas of memories and place, drawing and commenting on social injustice. All the violence within this is an Alana Hunt exhibition that harnessed the vulnerability of contemporary Australia through vivid photography. Hunt is a multi-award-winning artist who has featured in exhibitions around the world. From India to Australia her social commentary has caught the eye of art critics and everyday people alike.
