North West Mining and Civil open new Tom Price workers accommodation village

A Tom Price construction company has joined forces with two other companies to boost housing availability in the town. The joint venture by North West Mining and Civil, Tasman Power and Tasman Rope Access saw 11 three bedroom properties built in the new accommodation village called Paddy’s Parade.. NWMC chief executive Brian Lee and operations manager Sean Noonan are the owners and investors of the accommodation and it was opened last month. Housing in Tom Price continues to be an issue, with private rental properties prices increasing by $1000 per week in the last 12 months. Mr Lee said NWMC had been on a housing waitlist with Rio Tinto for more than five years. “With the current accommodation crisis we felt the need to find solutions for ongoing accommodation issues that were experienced by the business’s and Rio Tinto,” he said. “By developing the 11 three bedroom town houses in Tom Price this joint NWMC and Tasman initiative will help to solve the accommodation shortages. “This new investment will double the business’s local capacity and help to assist in Rio Tinto’s peak accommodation pressures.” Mr Lee said the accommodation was intended to be used for a variety of workers including civil, electrical, blast and painting works.
