Nickol man arrested on drug, weapons charges

Detectives have charged a Nickol man with a series of drug and weapon offences as a result of an ongoing operation into stopping the distribution of illicit drugs by members of the Mongrel Mob street gang.

The man was arrested after detectives executed a search warrant at a Delambre Drive property and allegedly found a machete, home-made taser, small amount of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

They will also allege the accused was in the house and armed with the machete at the time.

Charges against the man include conspiring to sell or supply a prohibited drug other than methamphetamine, offering to sell or supply the drug, possessing a prohibited weapon and carrying a controlled weapon in a manner likely to cause fear.

He was due to appear before the Karratha Magistrate’s Court today.
